Tools for plant kin-keepers.

Rhizomatic is a plant-community selection and care platform for plant-workers, landscape designers, nurseries, restoration ecologists, gardeners, and other land caretakers. Our toolkit allows tighter collaboration between folks who live and work with plants. Workspaces allow for sharing hyper-local plant community data; seed-gathering, propagation, installation, and care best practices; and plant growing condition data for site-plant matching.

  • Search species by light, moisture, soil, bloom, habit, hardiness zone and region, with each fact traced to the source it came from.

  • Record existing plant communities, soil conditions, and the wider biotic community.

  • Plan plantings, source them from nurseries, and follow the plants you put in the ground as they grow.

  • Share planting proposals and site-tracked plant community data with clients, researchers, and collaborators. Upload and store geo-positioned photos, videos, and 3D scans of sites.

  • Our database is underpinned by the Catalogue of Life taxonomy and GBIF’s Darwin Core conceptual framework, allowing collaboration between horticultural, design, and scientific communities.

  • Your data is your data to take with you and share only in the ways you want to share it. We don’t mine your data for “insights” without your explicit consent and collaboration.

We are growing a beta cohort to help us shape and test the platform. Tell us who you are, and we will write when there is a place. Gratitude for your curiosity!
